You probably haven’t run into a company like Olark before. For the past 12 years, we have been a fully remote, profitable company distributed around the globe. We have high trust in our teammates, and offer a significant level of autonomy to everyone in the organization. Our passion and ongoing support for our over 10,000 customers is a direct result of our people centric org model

This is a unique point in our company history, as we begin to fundamentally rethink the core messaging product that has led our growth for the past decade. As the Product Manager at Olark, you will play a pivotal role in the company’s evolution. This is a high autonomy position, and we are looking for someone who is strategic and collaborative.

Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Product Strategy: Create long-term success in our product. Reporting directly to our VP Product, you’ll develop an inspiring product strategy that will shape the future of Olark for years to come. You will validate learning before we build features and requirements, and take into account important metrics, user needs, competitive offerings, design proposals, and technical limitations. And there’s always room for research - you will propose research questions and work with teammates to structure and analyze findings.
  • Product Management: Be a leader and decision maker. As a PM, you will manage the outcomes of your product team, consisting of designers, engineers, and experts from our customer service team. You will oversee goals and lead team meetings, including weekly planning sessions, standups, and biweekly retros, and you will also oversee release management and QA. You’ll work with customers, partners, and key team members who have overlapping goals and report out your team’s wins and losses to the company.
  • Product Marketing: Believe in the products you build. You will work with members of the marketing team to develop successful to-market strategies and rollouts of new products and features to help promote demand and retention.

You will help us solve important Product challenges:

  • Which new product areas should we explore and why?
  • How do we simplify our product while providing a more complete solution to our customers?
  • Is it possible to develop features that contribute directly to boosting our growth? (virality, UGC)
  • How might we optimize our product-market-channel fit?
  • In what ways should we refine our processes and deepen the practice of Product Management at Olark?

You:

  • Experienced: You have 3+ years of product management experience, preferably within a SaaS/technology company. You’ve shipped products to 1000s of customers. As a proven product leader, you’ve been through the valleys and the peaks before and have learned to rally your team through both.
  • Problem-solver: You find creative solutions to move forward when you hit walls and find hurdles in your way. You work well with ambiguity and realize it is an opportunity to experiment.
  • Self-directed, but also highly collaborative: You are happy to work independently, but you also know when to ask for help. You know how to give and receive direct feedback. You’ll do what needs to be done: sometimes you’ll contribute to projects and at other times you’ll lead them.
  • Empathetic: You realize listening is just as important as speaking your mind. You not only care about the customer journey, but you also assume good faith of your teammates when there is conflict. You’re curious about understanding their perspectives.

You can expect a lot from us:

First off, make sure to read about our team culture at olark.com/jobs, and our values at olark.com/values. Beyond what you see there, as a member of Olark, you can expect:

  • A great remote culture and team: Even though we’re separated our team makes the effort to connect to one another and we provide in person opportunities to further enhance that bond. We genuinely like each other.
  • A life outside of work: Olarkers generally work 40 hour weeks. Work is a marathon, not a sprint. We are building a company for the long haul.
  • Great compensation and benefits: including phone/internet stipend, $1K yearly vacation bonus, 401k, and charitable donation matching.
